Reply to comment by worstatit in My car was stolen (stolen 1/2, found 1/5) in Philly, I filed a police report. Anyone have any idea if or when it'll show on a CarFax? Not sure if it varies by state/city. by WillingnessLazy4064
I did file and insurance claim and a police report. There was no damage other than my window and busting my ignition (I have a Kia).
I wonder why it’s so quick when an accident takes up to 90 days to show (based on what I saw online). I’m looking to trade in the car for a new one.
Do you think this’ll affect the trade in value significantly?

It's possible, but not likely. New car dealerships In particular basically give a lowball trade price based on book value and general condition. They may not even run a carfax, unless it's new enough and low mileage enough for them to put it on their lot. Of course, trading it in with a broken window and defeated ignition is different than a fully repaired vehicle.

Of course, its a 2020 Kia Sportage with 31k miles. No prior accidents or anything.
My insurance is going to fix everything with the car. When I get it back, it’ll be like new.
Just wasn’t sure if a tainted car fax would diminish value by much if at all. Especially with my car being in perfect condition

I don't believe you'll have a problem with reduced value, given lack of collision damage and good condition. Someone might try to "use" it during negotiations, but it's realistically not a big deal. Good luck!
