Moving to spring grove, anything I should know? From what I’ve gathered it’s a lot safer than York and Hanover?

Im a transplant from York. From city to smaller town.

The paper smell doesn’t bother me, I’m more interested in crime, things to do and utility costs. First time on my own and this is where I’ve settle for my first home.

Anything to help settle my nerves is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!!!

Very little if any crime. Expect a distance to drive to any reasonable grocery store (the Kennies is exorbitantly overpriced because it's the only one in town). Gas is always a little more expensive there too for some reason. People are generally nice, but there are some odd ones

Oh, is that why there are so many Instacart/Shipt etc orders to Spring Grove?

I’m a third generation Grover and live just outside of town but still in the thick of the mill. If you’re in SG proper, there’s the occasional kids being shitty crime, but nothing too serious. I’ve found the community to be warm and welcoming.

Jim and Nena’s has the best pizza in town, Genovas has the better subs between the two but I’m not crazy about their pizza.

I generally do all my business in York, though Hanover is just about as close. Spring Grove is a place to generally live quietly and drive somewhere else to do much else.

Welcome to the community! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out!

Can confirm Jim & Nena's makes tasty pizza, it reminds me of my late mom's pizzeria.

Haha... I'm 3 hours away from SG but pass through often for work. I've got Genova's tagged as a favorite for pizza in Google Maps.

I lived in Spring Grover for almost 28 years. I never had any big issues or problems living in the area. Generally good people, hardly had issues with the town itself. Make sure you do stop by Jim&Nenas for the pizza! Some of the best pizza in York county! Everything is close to get at. Kennies Rite Aid Hardee’s Rutters etc. Good school system too.

I work in SG. For the last 5 years, I've smelled H&H mulch more than the paper mill. It's a good town. Schools are great. Cops are heavy due to the schools in the area and speeding on old Hanover road. Since you're between York and Hanover, you get the best of both worlds.
