Places to see/eat - Wilkes Barre and King of Prussia

My wife and I (late 30s) are from York County. We are going to Wilkes Barre next month to see Jeff Dunham and have a couple nights away from the kids. Looking for recommendations on somewhere to eat dinner. I'm sure there are plenty of chains we are familiar with but looking for something local that we might not know to try out. We generally eat typical American food, burgers, steak, wings, seafood, etc. I don't drink and she might have a drink so alcohol doesn't matter.

Also looking for recommendations on places to eat around King of Prussia. She's never been there so we are going to spend some time there the day after we are in Wilkes Barre.

Also looking for places to check out/things to do in between Wilkes Barre and King of Prussia. We like hiking and being outside but it will be February and neither of us love spending too much time in the cold. I hear good things about Jim Thorpe and I've driven through there but don't what to check out, especially if it winds up being very cold. Doesn't have to be right on the route from WB to KoP.

Valley Forge is a cool place to walk around. Founding Farmers in KoP is a great place to eat.

Anthracite Cafe is probably the only place in Wilkes Barre that’s not been a let down. Coopers Seafood in Scranton is pretty good

There is nothing in KOP but a mall. Unsure why anyone would travel far to a mall. Plenty of overpriced restaurants with ok food. Nothing to write home about. Go into Philly for quality dining

You're right about dining in KOP, but to say there is nothing but "a mall" is like saying Mount Rushmore is "a statue."

I was implying that The Mall is all KOP needs, it's a real monument to consumption and capitalism.

If the weather's good, Valley Forge National Park is right by there. Also in good weather, Elmwood Park Zoo (closed Jan/Feb) has Treetop Adventures with a ropes & zipline course.

Phoenixville nearby has a great bar & restaurant scene.

What else in kop? VF up the road but is boring and then a tiny casino and tons of office buildings. Yea tons to do… 🤣

Anthracite Cafe or Breaker Brewing Company in WB If you like amazing service and Mexican food El Rey Azteca is top notch. All pretty easy/close to get to from your show.

Near Wilkes Barre is Bennys Brewery for casual dinning with good atmosphere! Or Cork for more upscale restaurant!

Hands down, no contest, the best meal I've ever had in my life was at Copperhead Grille in Allentown. You've gotta drive by to get to KOP, and I highly recommend stopping. Also recommend a stop in Bethlehem to see where Peeps are born.

Scranton has many locally owned restaurants including Bar Pazzo, Casa Bella, Sibios. Prima Vera. Or hit the pizza capital of the world Old Forge. We like Rinaldi’s Cusomanos and Arcaro and Genells

Go get Sabatini’s pizza in Exeter, they have amazing pizza and a huge drink selection

One of the best views for Jim Thorpe was taking the Switchback Trail from a small park and go straight up to the top. It's steep and a tad challenging, but the view at the top is so worth it. Not far distance-wise, so it won't take too much time.

For food in Wilkes Barre area, I would first recommend Istabul Grill. Located just off the main square, delicious Turkish food at reasonable prices. For something to do, if its warm enough, I would say a hike down to 7 Tubs. Theres also the Aquarium in Scranton.

What is the attraction to KOP? Prepare to be bitterly disappointed if you think it's anything other than an overly congested retail hell.

Skip KOP and go to Valley Forge instead... and then head over to Phoenixville to eat/drink/be merry.

It's not far out of the way from Wilkes Barre to my in-laws who are watching our kids. My wife has never been to the mall or any mall that big. There are a few stores we'd like to check out that we don't have locally. We'll walk the mall for what it is then get something to eat and be on our way.
