This happened not far from me. The snowpack here in Western Canada is the most volatile and unpredictable in over 20 years. It is very dangerous above treeline, and still considered hazardous below it. My condolences to the family. My brother and I ski in this exact terrain frequently, and it truly is some of the best skiing in the world. But not this year
