I moved here from CA and lost my license. Any tips on how to get a PA license? I have my passport, SS card, proof of PA address, photo of license, and a drivers record from CA. Do I need anything else? Will I have to take a test again? Do I need to go on a weekday in case they need to call the CA DMV?

EDIT FOR FUTURE PEOPLE LIKE ME: I went on a Saturday and everything went smoothly. No test needed. The driver's record/abstract was important. They didn't like it but they accepted it. Remember you need SS and another form of ID like passport, birth cert. etc. (DL/Real ID does not work here). 2 forms of proof of address are also needed.

Weekday would probably be best, as far as I know PA has specific driver's license centers, don't go to a general PennDOT office. They asked me for at least two pieces of mail with my PA address and legal name.

I doubt a call would be made or necessary. License records are computerized and available 24/7 to qualified agencies. The documents you have will streamline things considerably. Just go to your driver license center. I'm told it is not anything like the California DMV experience.

Unfortunately, it’s Easier to get your CA license replaced, then seek a PA license.

unfortunately that actually wasn't possible. they wouldn't let me replace it and get it shipped to PA.
