Hey sorry to ask this weird and specific question but

At the original Ann & Hope store in Warwick (beofre they became an outlet store), didn't you have to pay to use the bathroom?

I heard someting about a quarter machine attached to the bathroom door that had the door locked until you paid a quarter

Is this true or?

I remember it that way in most department stores in the 70's and 80's

How European sounding! Remember having to use the toilet so bad and fumbling for a coin, then to find out the tp was a grab before you enter situation.

I remember it was a dime to use the restroom at Bradlees department stores.

Paying to use the restroom gave rise to the old rhyme:

"Here I sit, broken hearted. Paid a dime, and only farted"
