This. And don't bother with Boston Bartender school, or any other school like that. Go work your way up in a restaurant.

No but you have to tell me your Mai Tai specs

No. You need to be serve safe certified though and going to a bar tending class isn’t a terrible idea

Every bartender I’ve ever worked with who has taken a “bartending class” is no better at making drinks than someone who learned behind the bar.
Silly_Brilliant868 t1_j9uw8v5 wrote
They are not better but if OP has never done it and doesn’t know anything about it and how much of a pour each drink should have etc.. there’s nothing wrong with taking it and learning
Proof-Variation7005 t1_j9vhwxt wrote
I think it can help, but it depends on the person. Most bartenders I know would call it a waste of money though.

I would think that takes some adjusting but once you have it down, you should be good. I would say the hardest part is the obnoxious drunks and predatory men. But what do I know, I don’t pour it, I drink it.

Not sure why you’re being downvoted. 90% of bartending is time management and interpersonal skills IMO. Can’t be taught in a class, just through experience and through learning from mistakes

All the people downvoting this comment have never had their shit kicked in working the service well and it shows.
Word of advice to the OP: if you are serious about bartending try to get a bar backing job and just learn like most bartenders do. Bartending is one of those jobs where more is caught and than taught. It’s not something that’s handed down to you because you took a 4 hour course. I think if you’re interested in doing some home bartending go ahead and take the class. You’ll definitely learn a few tricks and tips that spark your interest. But realistically? don’t expect to get a reputable bartending job with the certification. Regardless, Best of luck!

Surprisingly no. There is just the serve safe certification.

Bartending classes are useless lol. Find somewhere that will take you in. Easy enough to learn. And yes serve safe matters

you can take a TIPS class online and it’s good for 3 years

Only if youre gonna drive to work

You can get your servsafe certification online for like $10. If you don't have experience, get a job at a chain restaurant serving, and bust your ass. Work harder than everyone else and you will get a bartending shot.

Reminder that TIPS classes are a scam that brainwashes people to believe that bartenders are at fault for drunk driving, rather than the drunk drivers.

Not exactly. Dram shop laws exist for good reason

No license required, Just serve safe and TIPS certification which can be done online and I think is valid for a couple years.
