We kept both in the house when I was a kid in the late 60s/early 70s. The Eclipse glass bottle had a cartoon child on it, so that was for the kids. The Autocrat bottle had the same bird as the canned ground coffee, so that was for the adults.

Pipes in RI don't rust quite like that because they are made of lead. Supposedly state has federal funds to replace them at some point.

The mains are cast iron so they do rust like that in older parts of the city especially, many are 100 years old. The service line in those same old parts of the city are likely lead. For the most part water like that happens after a disturbance like a hydrant being opened by the fire department.

Yes, had a hydrant replaced across street and it was nasty. It continued to be light yellow for over a week. Regarding service lines from main to house, the city will replace at no cost to home owner. This is from President Obama's legislation years ago.

Nothing to "do" with Obama or Trump. My understanding is certain individual properties have lead service pipes to the road. Mckee is using Federal money to pay. Work is to begin.
