Loud booms (explosions?) in North Kingstown

UPDATE: NKPD does not know the cause but is once

Tonight I’ve heard 3 very loud explosions. I can feel the reverberations while sitting in my couch. There has probably 3-5 minutes between each concussion.

These are definitely not standard fireworks either.

I’ve also heard this before 2 Sundays ago in the mid afternoon. At least 3 that Sunday as well.

Anyone have idea what it might be?

Maybe a jet breaking the sound barrier? This happened years ago in SK and it sounded and felt like someone threw a 50lb bag of sand at my front door.

Maybe, Quonset really is only 2.5 miles from my house. Don’t think I’ve heard a sound barrier concussion before either.

Yea that's my vote. It sounds like a loud bang and if they're close enough, it can rattle a house for a second.

I heard there was a new Taco Bell opening in the Newport creamery plaza on post road , where blockbuster used to be (20 years ago ).

I thought construction last time but tonight was after dark and it’s Sunday. I feel like construction companies wouldnt be working this late.

We are wondering same thing.. Watching the SB and heard these 3 loud boom explosions..third one seemed the loudest. No idea what that was..no emergency vehicles around..really odd.

Yeah I’m not too far from Quonset. Heard the booms then 5ish min later heard one of those big planes taking off. Not sure what’s going on, but hopefully there will be some clarification in the morning.

I was walking my dog in Ryan park last week and it sounded like the end of days in the sky. My pup was all freaked out. I always tend to blame it on Quonset, who knows what they're doing up there! Wish they would warn the town when it's going to be so loud, the past few weeks I've been hearing the booms a lot.
