Hopefully someone will know something. I'm a scuba diver looking for work and I applied to a job posting in Newport, I got a call back and everything was good, but when I went to research the business I couldn't find the company when I typed in the address on maps, and I couldn't find any reviews on yelp, etc. I am asking this because I had a sketchy experience a few months back with a potential job opportunity. Anyways the business is Elite Divers LLC, their site lists 181 Bellevue Ave suite 211, Newport as the address. It is a boat cleaning and repair business. Has anyone heard of it? Does anyone have any experience with them? Sorry for the long post, anything will help.

Seems like the website is put together alright, niche businesses like that might not have a huge presence though.

That address is the Postall in the Bellevue Gardens shopping center. The "suite" number is their post office box number there. A lot of people do this to have a Bellevue Ave address. Where did you interview with them? Did you ask how long they've been in business? A LOT of service and trade businesses in Newport operate on just word of mouth, so it's not necessarily sketchy if they aren't marketing online or getting Yelp reviews.

Thank you, I actually did a phone interview as I live in another state, but their site said they have been in business since 1995.

Just did a bit of sleuthing, and it seems totally legit on a local level (I'm in Newport). The first thing is, when I googled Elite Divers, llc, Google filled in "Newport, RI." So, it has search traffic. Second thing: the phone # exchange is 848. This is old school Newport. 846, 847, and 848 used to be the landline numbers for Newport, and people could tell where you lived by your phone number. They've had that number a long time. I have an 847 landline # I got when I moved here in the 90s, and I won't give it up 😂 Finally, I texted a friend on the State Police dive team and he knows the owner. I hope the job works out for you and you have a great time in Newport!

They are a legitimate business. I know someone who used them for a hull inspection a couple years ago. I'm not sure if they actually have a normal brick & mortar location as they're not really that type of business.

I can tell you they've been in Newport for a long time. You see them diving boats for service, cleaning, etc.. all the time in the summer. Can't vouch for them personally but they've been around.

You can look up the businesses filing paperwork on the RI Secretary of State website. Look for the corporation search. It may give you the members of the LLC as well. You can then look them up also.

As far as I know, there are no scuba shops in Newport. I can't speak to boat cleaning businesses.
