This will be our first time going to the Newport St. Patrick’s Day parade! Can anyone suggest a place to park? I don’t want to get a ticket if there’s local parking laws in effect. Is it better in a parking lot or is it on street parking? I don’t mind walking a little bit, but have a little ones so a big trek isn’t really in the cards. Any and all advice is helpful so thanks in advance!

Good luck. Your best bet to get close parking is to get there super early.

I’ve parked at the visitors center…but literally showed up for breakfast. Not brunch. Breakfast. Think Benjamin’s still has a solid one?

Park at the Gateway Center or in the parking lot at the Shops at Long Wharf. Then grab a spot right on Thames, by Sephora, and next to the Newport History Museum. The parade comes down through Washington Square and turns onto Thames, you'll be right there so you'll see everything coming down the hill before it gets to you. Bring cash because people will be selling hats, beads, balloons, etc, and your little ones will likely want a souvenir :)
