Not on a livable wage unfortunately. I never made more than 15 bucks an hour as a Basic here.

I just saw this on fb . I don’t know what any of the letters mean though.

Scituate EMS is looking for EMT’s to join our EMS team. We currently have a number of Per-Diem positions available DAYS AND NIGHTS providing 911 services to the Town of Scituate. There are a variety of shift configurations. Applicants must have a valid RI Driver’s license and be a certified EMT or Advanced EMT-Cardiac in good standing with the State of RI, Department of Health. Applicants will also need to provide a background check obtained from the Attorney general's office. New and experienced EMT’s of all levels of care are welcomed to apply. Interested applicants please contact Lieutenant Robert Marwell at ROBHJFD128@GMAIL.COM

Private ambulance companies are always hiring. Do not expect a livable wage as an EMT anywhere. Look at private service as a stepping stone to something better (school, trade, etc).

Short terms several smaller towns hire per diem EMT’s, someone above mentioned Scituate and i believe Glocester also hires basics in the $20 an hour range and it seems they are always looking.

If your planning on living here ling term getting on a Union Paid FD is becoming easier due to no one applying. You will be required to become ALS licensed by most cities and towns before hand or maybe shortly after hire but if this is the kind of living you want to make you can easily make 100k a year after a few years on the job. I would get on a per diem EMS job to start and you can probably get them to pay for a cardiac license while you work there. Good luck.

B jobs tend to have a different meaning to the average Rhode Islander.

I’d say your best bet is to look into Scituate EMS or Chepachet or some other type of town that has its own EMS service. The private ambulance services typically suck but I know some people have had good luck at “Professional ambulance”. When you can I’d apply to full time fire departments that also do EMS usually the only prerequisite is your physical test and EMT-B. No one is applying anymore for these jobs so if you have your emt your ahead of the game.

EMS does not earn a livable wage. Look for FD's if you're trying to make it into a career.
