I just commented on the Worcester reddit about this topic and curious what Rhode Islanders think.

I think the tradition and experience of Wrights can't be beat but Village Haven food was soooo much better!!! The chicken isn't dry and has cinnamon rolls mixed in with the dinner rolls.🤤 I like Wrights and will probably be back at some point but the Village Haven is now my go to for RI style chicken dinner.

I’ve never heard of Village Haven but now I’ll have to go!

Village Haven is superior and it's really not that close. The cinnamon rolls alone settle the argument.

Village Haven hands down. Just a more pleasant experience overall. Vermette's in Woonsocket used to be good too, but I'm pretty sure they burned down like a decade ago.

I heard that lucky dog bought out village haven. We’ll see how this goes but given how fucking pretentious and overpriced lucky dog is, I don’t have high hopes

I’m from MA right over the RI border.

We loved them both equally, but I think Village Haven felt fancier because it was less crowded and they have the cinnamon buns there. My Uncle and his ex wife had their wedding reception there.

With that said, my sister had her wedding reception at Wrights and my Senior Prom Committee (I was on it) chose to have our prom at Wright’s because we all went often.

TLDR: Love them both

Village Haven all day. Weights is greasy, yet gelatinous, and mainly seasoned with salt. Lots of salt.

What's on the Village Haven all-you-can-eat menu? Is it the same as Wright's Farm plus cinnamon rolls?

I never understood the allure of waiting for well over an hour for a run-of-the-mill (at best) family style chicken dinner. Village Haven is a great place to eat though...good menu, good service.

Thank you! I’ve always thought Village Haven was a lot better. I end up… on the toilet… after a visit to wrights. I think it’s just super greasy. But it’s a rite of passage when growing up. I should add that wright’s DAIRY farm isn’t too far away and has incredible pastries (and you can visit the cows).

Yeah the owners of Lucky Dog bought Village Haven. I was initially skeptical given what VH is known for. Honestly, the food is equal to, and in some cases better, than the original (family style and cinnamon rolls are still bomb). They also spruced up the interior. Nothing against the OG owners but it felt like some of the walls/furniture hadn’t been updated since the place first opened. My family went last Christmas and they handled it like pros. Lucky Dog is on my list of places to try too.

Village haven was better until they sold. Wrights has finally taken over the podium in my opinion and as a North Smithfield resident that’s hard to admit to.

Exactly. It was good before. It's stupidly good now. The pasta, the salad, the fries are all even better now. Plus they give these awesome potatoes along with the fries. Plus the price is still good. I think it's cheaper than Wright's still. Highly recommend.

I think Wrights has better fries… but the new owners at Village Haven are killing it with everything else (which pains me to admit coming from a Wrights family)
