Hello locals! I am in the Narragansett/Newport area for the first time this weekend and we’re getting poured on with rain.

Does anyone have any suggestions of fun places we can go to during the rain? Great bars, fun stores, favorite museums? Things to avoid? Thanks!

I hear the mansions only have a few leaks in the roofs here and there.

I seriously drive over an hour to go here every once in a while. I love their food. Shame you didn't like it.

If you can take getting a little wet I still would recommend heading down to Beavertail or at least doing Ocean Drive in Newport and stop at Breton Point. It's still nice to be by the water even when it is cold and wet, at least for me.

The Audrain Auto Museum is pretty cool, and you could combine that with a mansion or two. Then you could head over to Broadway (as mentioned Fastnet or Pour Judgement or other places) and see what you like there, or head down to Thames. Go to the brick Alley and get some comfort food. Whatever.

Any Rhode Islander would laugh at the notion of "the Narragansett/Newport area." Those are on opposite sides of the bay, and take two bridges and at least 25 minutes driving. That's a long day trip to RI sensibilities.

I'm not current on the current bars and museums in the area. I like much of the coastal attractions in the rain, just as well as in the sun, so can't really help on that end, other than to suggest you not discount outdoor things just because it's raining.

Little Compton to Narragansett is nothing looking for waves to RI surfers . Like tomorrow morning…

Yes this weekend is a huge event right now. https://www.audrainconcours.com/events/. 10-1 Bellevue Ave is shutting down and a tour of Amazing Cars setting up in the parking lot at Memorial Blvd. https://www.audrainconcours.com/events/

Most of the events are closed today because of the rain.

Edit: besides on Bellevue Ave. some cars are still there.

mew’s tavern is awesome, maybe 5 minutes outside of narragansett. their teriyaki brussel sprouts are the BEST + it’s right on main street, theres a vintage book store and some gift shops and all sorts of different things

Go to Bannisters wharf, a half dozen places of various style/price point. If they all disappoint, head east to Buskers or Fastnet

Rainy day in Narragansett? Everyone goes shopping at Marshall’s/Home Goods. Not sure why, but I know it must be crazy there now.

try coast guard house or twoten oyster bar for lunch. make sure you're seated at the window and watch the rain fall on the water.

Pivotal Brewing in Bristol is having live music all day today. Plus Brick pizza is in the same parking lot. Both are very good!

Rejects Beer Co has an Octoberfest with bands playing today. Also, there's an escape room on Thames I think.
