I miss the smell of Benny’s.

And going there with my parents to pick out reasonably priced pool floats. It was so exciting.

The best part of Benny’s was being able to get quality, hardware, automotive, marine and fishing gear at extremely cheap prices.

Nothing replaces Benny's. They didn't have everything but their selection of household products, garden, toys, automotive, paint & hardware, and seasonal items allowed one-stop shopping 75% of the time. RIP, indeed.

Been driving by one of the old Benny’s stores on 136 in Bristol or Warren for the past several weeks. I miss it, too. Ocean State Job Lot cannot compare.

Now I'm sad I will always have fond memories of Benny's especially around the holidays when my mom and grandma would take me down there to do "my" Christmas shopping for my sisters and we'd put a bunch of stuff on layaway and they'd come back pick it up and wrap it. I miss that store so much, there's too many memories that went away when that store died.

There really ought to be a “Benny’s section” at every Job Lot to keep the dream alive.
