Go to the 193° Coffeehouse in the Memorial Union.
Student-run non-profit, $1 coffee, open mics and band nights. Its been a URI hangout spot for over 25 years and still the chillest vibe on campus.
Welcome to URI! Check out the events page, there’s always something happening on campus :)
It took me about a year to make some friends myself, but put yourself out there and you’ll find your people
Clubs don’t often advertise themselves, but you can find a community you may feel comfortable in the discord hubs. Gaming club is pretty popular and there’s always a tournament every friday. You just have to do some digging to find gold.
I’m a sophomore here, so if you have any questions, I might not have all the answers but I’m willing to help!
That’s where I first learned to socialize at URI.
The clubs are the best way. Totally worth it to take the time to dig up some that interest you. Made my time there awesome.
Rock Spot is fun for climbing. It’s one of the things that brings me to the area.
Join a club or organization. Almost all of my friends were met through being dormmates or club members. Even if the Greek scene isn't for you (it wasn't my jam either) there is something for every interest.
This isn’t fun necessarily, but they have a free farmers market for URI students on Thursdays where they hand out veggies the Ag department grew/harvested. (Going to be ending soon so for sure swing by for some free veggies!)
Clubs always advertise. ESP on first night. Highly recommend joining something. Anything that peaks your interest. You’ll have a group of friends.
I second this, i was apart of a club sports team all 4 years and ended up being the President of it my senior year and it was the best decision during my time at URI. Made way more and frankly better friends than the ones I made freshman year from being in the dorms. I’m a couple years out of school now and I’m still very much in touch with many of those friends from the club.

Just a suggestion, tell people what you like to do. “Boring” is a general term and what one person sees as boring, another may see as fun. Is there something you e done and liked around there? If so let people know, that way they may suggest similar, but different things.
