I would like to get my great-great grandfather's violin restored - it's in rough shape. Mouse nibbles, missing fretboard, was refinished poorly - however pegs are all there, no cracks to the body, and the maple on the back would be beautiful. Most of the places I find on the 'net seem to specialize in guitars though. Any recommendations?

Beekman Violin in Wakefield. It’s the only place my mom will let work on her instruments, and I send all my students there too. They’re great to work with

You can try calling Upton Bass in Mystic. If they can’t do it, they may be able to refer you.

You could also try North Benett St School, which has a violin luthier school in Boston.

Robert's Music in Warwick should be able to do it as well.
