Anyone know where to go fossil hunting in RI? Thought it would be a fun activity to try! Thank you!

The Statehouse is a good start. Lots of old bones there.
How about in that pineapple/pine cone thing on Federal Hill? Someone has to be buried in there!
I want to add North Prov town hall to your list.
The pineapple always marks the spot
Hmmmm that would make an interesting afternoon…
Fossils and a good lunch, not a bad idea.
Ya dig?
(archeology joke)
It’s not an f’in Pineapple!
Sweet! Thanks for the advice
Never been but Corey’s Lane in Portsmouth has been referenced before in this sub and a google search will bring up several sites/forums where it is discussed
Awesome! I’ll try it out!
I've been there, found some leaf fossils! I recommend going at low tide, much easier to walk to the area with shale.
I used to do a lot of fossil hunting along the whole western side of Aquidneck Island and the Cory Lane site was the only place I found with fossils still in situ in the cliffs. At low tide, park at the end or the road near the tracks and head right about 1/4 mile? It’s a 10 foot tall cliff of shale with many layers crumbling - some have fossils. The loose shale around this site also has them. I was finding almost exclusively Carboniferous ferns (about 300M yrs).
Wow that’s awesome! Thank you!
Along the rocky shores, Warwick area, Jamestown area. Look for shale and split, you’ll find fossilized plants and animals.

Any junk rock especially shale you see blasted out for highways sround the state, especially Johnston/purgatory area. Lots of exposed rock lots of chances. I have s private spot but it's private.
