We are trying to plan a trip over to visit my grandpa this month or next, but I'm not getting too much in searches in the middle of the state near Coventry where he is currently staying outside of going over to Providence (waterfire, PV donuts, little Italy) or the Warwick mall. I can't tell what parks would be good for a walk or are just a tiny spot for the kids.

Any places that are great to visit this time of year nearby? Good sites, trails, shopping, or food/deserts? We are both anime people so we did RI Comic Con last year, but we were not impressed enough to do that this year. We live in the middle of CT so its about an hour and a half each way to see him, but we wont end up staying too long as he can't hear.

Some good hiking trails include the Audubon society’s trails, steppingstone falls, and Wickaboxet.

Stepstone Falls is super, as is Big River. RI Homemade Donuts and Master donuts are good and not as far as Providence.

But Allie's is the GOAT.

Master in particular I find to be only marginally better than dunkin.

I wonder if they changed. I haven’t been for a while - my favorite is Glaze & Daze. I like a lighter, yeasted donut. But I figured Allies or G&D would be farther than than want to go, if they don’t want to go to PVD.

There's lots of hiking aound Coventry. Like already mentioned, there are several Audubon properties and others that have hiking trails (I like george parker woodland), plus the bikepath with lots of offshoots there too (beaudoin conservation area, merril whipple conservation area, +).

If you're coming sooner rather than later, check out Spring Hill Sugarhouse. It's in Richmond, but can be only a 20ish minute drive depending on exactly where you are in Coventry. Also, the bike path near the Summit General Store is uncrowded and beautiful.

thanks, that does sound interesting to check out. The general store even looks to be on the way over.
