There is an RSV outbreak amongst infants/toddlers. Been around any kids lately? Probably a viral infection.

This might be a virus because for 2 days I felt like I could not breathe and kept taking my inhaler.

Also, one night I was trying to sleep and it felt like something was stuck in my throat.

Then a friend of mine came over yesterday (who had been around my house before I felt this way) and said that HE was having trouble breathing and coughing up phelgm. SO...it could very well be a virus.

Hope you feel better soon.

Please ignore the covid trolls below peddling misinformation. It could be covid, could also be RSV which is trending upward, could be multiple things.

Air quality has been terrible out west with the wildfires, has the jetstream moved any of that over to us in the past few days? Wondering if that might be playing a role.

Could it be something as simple as seasonal allergies? Like, if you were away in a completely different climate for a bit then came back in to the peak of whatever fall pollen we have around here, it could feel worse than if you were here for the whole bell curve of pollen.

Also, it has been particularly wet and humid, which must not help. I mean, I can literally see the air outside right now...

Then of course, traveling you might have been exposed to any number of cold/flu/rhino/noro/corona viruses which could have respiratory ramifications.

I take a daily Zyrtec, but I don’t know if it does much. I was stuffy before leaving, then on the trip I was 100% fine. Almost as soon as I got back to RI, wheeze. I’m wondering if it’s the humidity, mold spores or something like that.

It's going around. I work in an Urgent Care and everyone is coming in with what you have. No one is testing positive for Covid. I think it's this weather, allergies or prob a virus picked up from the little ones. You'll feel better in a few days.

If this is really an ongoing issue please PLEASE get off Reddit and go see your Dr or go to a clinic that accepts your insurance.

This is not the place to diagnose health issues and respiratory issues can be very serious very rapidly.

If Zyrtec was recommended and it does not work for you, you might try an alternative OTC like Xyzal, Clarintin, or Allegra. Assuming an antihistamine isn’t working a steroid based inhaler may need to be prescribed. But these are things a medical professional should advise you on

There are no out of the ordinary allergens at this time of year in RI. There is a post summer season form August through September, but it’s over by this time. The rain as of late would also curb that. As for mold that is situational to where you live. If you don’t have mold issues in your home any other time of the em year then you would not suddenly have them now.

Every year this time of year my asthma flares up. Definitely seasonal allergy.

Do you get allergies? Wondering if theres a particular type of pollen / fungus in your area that's tripping it. It's been much wetter and warmer the past few days vs the ones before. Could have set something off.

Also, Zyrtec didn’t do Jack for me. I’ve been on Allegra for years now and it’s been great. But I would try them all out a month at a time until you find one that works.

Dry summer wet fall has created the worst amount of fall tree pollen I've seen since moving here. I have a big cedar next door and a couple of white pines and every surface of the outside of my house was yellow green before this week's rain. It's been bad.

It’s ragweed season … it’s brutal this year, more so than other years. At least that has been my issue for a bit.

There’s a lot going around, including allergies. It’s also very humid today 🥵 that can’t help.

No one in my family has allergies. Yet I got them in my mid-30s. Definitely allergic asthma, plus tree pollen, dogs (probably cats but I haven't tried living with those since), maybe ragweed, and oral allergies to certain food, and probably other stuff too -- it's crazy. And sucks.

A lot of people have trouble with mold in the fall.

Dear daddy, I write you
In spite of years of silence
You've cleaned up, found Jesus
Things are good, or so I hear
This bottle of Steven's awakens ancient feelings
Like father, stepfather
The son is drowning in the flood
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
Say it ain't so
Your drug is a heartbreaker
Say it ain't so
My love is a life taker
