Dusky, Blue, Thresher, Mako, Basking, Sandbar, Great White, Hammerhead, Porbeagle and Tiger sharks.

Now I'm wondering why stop, drop and roll was drilled into our heads as kids like we were one day gonna spontaneously combust but nothing on shark safety when we all lived at the beach in the ocean in the summer time

Sharks are not that dangerous...

You're more likely to be killed by all of the following before a shark:

Accidental poisoning.

An air or space accident.

A bike accident.

Boating.

Cancer.

A car accident.

A champagne cork.

Contracting an infection in a hospital.

RI beaches in particular don’t have dangerous sharks around in general. Thresher sharks are the most common…they are super shy and literally use their tail to hunt. Not their jaws. Great whites come off block island but not really in beach season. RI water is too warm during summer.
