That’s a house vote. So it would need to be in your district. You likely had the Cicilline ticket for your region.

More representation for our state, it is all based on population but the number for total membership is fixed. More reps = more votes = larger percentage = more power. We almost lost our second this year, so unless we start having greater population gains versus another state we may possibly lose one. Every 10 years we do a census and that census determines congressional redistricting. Which is why the census is also good to do.

That’s how the house works. It’s regional. Which is why gerrymandering is an issue.

If you're into John Oliver, he did a great segment on present-day gerrymandering that should be on YouTube. Historically, it's been a thing for at least a hundred years, but he covered why it's a relevant problem today.

Then why go vote?

Gerrymandering is horrific and often makes it so white rural voters have significantly more political power than urban voters. For example, in 2018 in Wisconsin, The Democrats won 53% of the voter for their state house and Republicans won 45% of the vote.

Despite this, the Wisconsin Republicans won 63 seats to the Democrats 36.

See that’s why I hate trying to follow politics and all that stuff. It literally makes no sense. I remember a few years back here in Rhode Island most of the state voted republican but democrats ended up winning because of those towns that decide the winning factor.

That's...how it works, codified in state law. In-person votes are tabulated, then the mail-in votes are reported after polls close.
