What’s up everyone, I relocated to RI for a job, I work from home so I need to meet some people! A little about me M, 25, big sports fan, love the bengals (need a place to watch/people to watch with) university of Michigan football and basketball, im in finance and my girlfriend is in social media. I play Warzone, love to bowl ( would love to join a league that doesn’t expect me to be very good ). Im a proud democrat, I’m vegan (but I’m not preachy about it, you do you baby), I like to drink beer, I have 2 dogs and I’m really excited to be here, just need some new people to hangout with. Hit me up! Edit: I live in Pawtucket, and I enjoy cigars.

Hi.

Welcome.

Would you like to mention what town you are in?

We pretty much make friends at the dog park.

I added my current location to the original post! The dog park would be great if my 2 weren’t so bad around other dogs, but we are working on it! Thank you

There’s a new one in Smithfield! I can’t remember the name exactly but if you google it it’ll pop right up! Brand new, separated by weight, bubbler for the pups

Thank you so much! It is actually called “Smithfield dog park” lol I just saw their website and it looks awesome! We will be visiting it soon

Come to a Saturday "social event" (trash cleanup) in Providence! We are Cozy Rhody Trash Cleanup group, and we have cleanups usually once every 1-2 weeks.

The RI Beer Club meets twice a month at various breweries throughout the state. I've only been a couple times but it's a solid outing.

Always love to hear that, welcome! RI is a pretty good place for us vegans, with quite a few purely vegan restaurants, a bunch of omni places with vegan options, a vegan food hall, plenty of farmer's markets, and most grocery stores have a middling to good selection of vegan products.

thejakes2021 OP t1_iwmr8c3 wrote

Thank you! We are definitely excited by all the options

Hey! Welcome to RI, hopefully the sticker shock of cost of living here has worn off. Other than that I think we’ve got a nice little state. Sports is a tough one, not a lot of diversity in terms of fandoms (BOS/NY pretty much runs the show here). Lots of great bowling though, Kingston Bowl in NK is nice, Old Mountain Lanes in Wakefield, or Lang’s in Cranston. Being new to New England you should look for candle pin bowling, pretty interesting twist to the game if you can still find somewhere to do it. The interest has kind of faded over the years.

I didn’t follow a specific hockey/NBA team so I can get behind some New England teams if I’m around the right crowd lol

We’ll I’m a die-hard Bruins fan, and we’d be happy to have you! Great time to join the fandom too, best team we’ve had in a long time. Currently 14-2 and 1st in the league standings 👍👍

We’ve got some awesome breweries in the state if you like beer. I just went to a horror themed pop up at Buttonwoods brewery in Cranston that was a ton of fun.

Welcome.

In Pawtucket, you should go to The Guild for Trivia Night. Join a group!

Also, Garden Grille is an amazing vegetarian restaurant in Pawtucket, on the Providence line.

Thank you! Do you know where I can find some groups that are looking or do I just show up and hope someone has a spot?

Akmoneron t1_iwrwz6r wrote

I always went with some other folks. But it's a pretty welcoming group. I would get there early and when people start arriving just ask if they would like another to join. Next time I plan on going, I'll message you.

UofM alum now living in Providence, I definitely recommend connecting with the Boston-based branch of the alumni group for sports watch parties and other events!

Yeah I’ve looked into that, I just don’t want to go to Boston every weekend to watch with other fans lol

Well howdy! Welcome to RI! I’m just a little ole Wakefielder checkin in. What system do you have? Warzone is cool and all, but if you got an xbox and want to violently teabag some scrubs and zombies, slide your tag into my DMs. We’ll get to dirty work real quick.

The German American Cultural society in Pawtucket has a monthly Trachtenabend(basically people who can dress up and they serve German food) the third Friday of every month. You meet various people who like beer there. It's a great place.
