I know we get all excited about single digit plates and everyone talks about having seen the real #1 plate (not the Governor's or Providence mayor's) but how about a plate even lower than that, until they come up with negative numbers?

Do you know if they can duplicate numbers on each plate design, or is that the only #0?
Design within the same class is independent from number. So your number would be 123•456 whether you have passenger wave, passenger lighthouse, etc.
I'm not sure if they would duplicate numbers across classes, like if there's a passenger 123•456 and also a commercial 123•456, but I wouldn't imagine so.
They wanna change it to one number completely. So no more town 123 passenger 123 etc.
They do. I got a bill for a toll on the GW in NY and it was a commercial plate where mine was a combination. Called EZ pass and disputed it. My car could barely make it to Boston never mind NYC

They do re-use numbers between classes. I was stopped in my work van and accused of a hit-and-run in NH because of a matching number on a passenger plate (mine is commercial).

This is most likely an OLD preferred plate. Which by the way. The dmv still not accepting vanity plates or preferred plates but still making new plates is stupid.

Vanity plates got stopped because the state screwed up and let a guy with a tesla get FKGAS. they literally gave him his reg and then pulled it and they went to court so the state at this time says they aren't taking requests but public opinions (idk what wording) but it's on the dmv site when you google vanity plates ri

It's not even about his plate that I'm griped about. I have been trying to get a preferred plate, keep applying and getting nowhere. Okay I'll get a vanity plate, can't do it because the state screwed up and wouldn't own the mistake. Now we as rhode islanders paying car taxes and xyz can't even get the services and such that we're paying for. Keep making new stuff everyday but don't wanna take someone's money for something else.
What's a preferred plate? Is that like getting your initials for the first two letters?
Used to be 0-9999, then like weird combinations like your initials and 2 numbers or 3 specific numbers AA-018 you MUST contact the govenors office and fill out the application. It's online, but I've applied like 3/4 times. I know someone who waited 8 years for a preferred plate. But it's a mute point because I'm understanding they won't let them out because the state won't submit vanity plates

As a transplant to RI (albeit 20 years ago), the infatuation with custom plates is one of the few Rhode Island things I just cannot grasp….
It's a part of Matt Allen's Rhode Island Holy Triad. You need your state job, your blue cross insurance and your low number license plate.

I'm fairly sure that is not a normal passenger plate. The license plate cover could be hiding important info.

Ahh ok. The reason I said that is because people will reflexively say "Doesn't count, it's not the wave plate!" not because I think it's less cool.
