I understand why you posted this here in the state sub where it does belong but I am curious what the responses would be like in the r/legal sub too.

Tap on r/legal, then add your post there. It’s the same process there as what you did to enter it here. I would list the steps but it can be different depending on mobile vs desktop, etc.

If your lawyer failed to do his or her job, you can file a complaint https://www.courts.ri.gov/PublicResources/disciplinaryboard/PDF/FAQ.pdf

But if they set reasonable expectations for you and you just don’t like that they think a plea is in your best interest, that’s not necessarily poor representation. Trials are difficult and expensive and juries are hard to predict. Is it in federal court or state court? That could also factor in.
