The $35g was to handle the case, that was a flat fee, with no additional charges. As for the $30g, I wrote it wrong, it was to take over the case.
Right but the lawyer you paid 35g to didn't end up handling it so why can't you get that back
I paid $10g and $25g almost 5 yrs ago. The $30g was with a new lawyer whom I spoke with last night. Not made up! I have the receipts. Really?
Damn, sounds like you need to take your lawyer to court too.
Unfortunately, in the state of RI that is almost unpossible, we are a totally corrupt state and I have to hire a Boston lawyer, otherwise, thier all friends and will look after each other. I hope none of you all have to deal with the RI court system
How did you have 35k for a lawyer but not even get a credible lawyer π© my attempt at a legal joke... You wanted pro Bono, You got pro bono'ed
Sorry here mostly for comedic relief, best of luck
Thank you for being honest, even at my family's expense. Rest well, and wish you nothing but happiness and a bright future β¨οΈ
Wishing you the best as well, some of us don't have $35k to lose.
I don't have $35g to lose! That was was life savings! But, will I stand, yes! If that means I become homeless and lose everything against a corrupt RI court system, then so it will be. In the end, I will show how much our state is fucked! Are state cares only about itself and not about its citizens! Good night!
Yes
He was a credible lawyer, made endless promises and just never followed through. If you give $35g at lawyer, would you just walk away? No, you stay with that person and hope that he does his job, correct?
So he wasnβt a credible lawyer.
Right! Unfortunately!
I understand why you posted this here in the state sub where it does belong but I am curious what the responses would be like in the r/legal sub too.
How do I that? New at this and really need answers asap?
Tap on r/legal, then add your post there. Itβs the same process there as what you did to enter it here. I would list the steps but it can be different depending on mobile vs desktop, etc.
r/legaladvice would be better
If your lawyer failed to do his or her job, you can file a complaint https://www.courts.ri.gov/PublicResources/disciplinaryboard/PDF/FAQ.pdf
But if they set reasonable expectations for you and you just donβt like that they think a plea is in your best interest, thatβs not necessarily poor representation. Trials are difficult and expensive and juries are hard to predict. Is it in federal court or state court? That could also factor in.
Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Thank you π, I will do so!

Try contacting Mark Smith out of Providence
Thank you, I will contact him.
So what's your case about? I feel that might give some more context as to why your lawyer is getting out.
He is withdrawing because he is retiring, or so he says.
That doesn't answer my question.im asking because maybe it's an unwinnable case and maybe you're ( not accusing you if this, just a thought) being to thick headed to accept it and this is his way out. End of the day we need more context to the situation

Can you share who your lawyer was? That sounds terrible. Corruption is everywhere but there are good attorneys out there

Do you paid a lawyer 35 grand and he didn't do what you paid him for. Are you able to get that back for breach of contract?
Crackpot
?you? Why are there so many cruel people in the world, that have nothing better to do but bully others. Use that time to make a change, and your country a better place. Good luck and may you find happiness and good fortune.
And the same to you.
I can tell you that after being in a 350 Ford that flipped over at least 2 times and hit at least 2 trees, that I found home, until I was awoken and then found nothing but pain and wanted to go back to the peace I felt!
The $30g was take on the case, obviously!
Criminal defense is expensive
Yes, unfortunately π
nahh, i got locked up for skateboarding in the road, $2k later lawyer gets me out
i even made the providence journal, i was famouse for a few days
Ya, so didn't my nephew for jumping off the Jamstown bridge and surviving!
really
did he tell you the tail of how it felt, i wanna here details, the initial letting go of life and green lighting the jump
the initial falling feeling, wat were his thoughts on the way down, cuz you know he had time to think, wat were his thoughts
and then the after the crash, floatin all wrecked, wats goin on in the mind
You would have to ask him! How would I know, I wasn't there.

You need to write the bar association. Your lawyer is a deadbeat, itβs not uncommon in Rhode Island. Fire him and request a complete refund, being he refuses to go to trial. Hire another lawyer who will do the work. Saul Goodman for example.
Lol, it's that the dude from the TV show! Good one. Anyway, thank you for your advice and will be doing so asap.
I have been told that RI is so corrupt, good luck! If this was a Mass case, than maybe I would have a chance. All RI is corrupt, unfortunately π

You paid 35 grand up front? And a lawyer wants 30 grand just to talk? This sounds horribly made up
