Don’t need a filter for water from Scituate Reservoir
Problem are all the old ass pipes
Agreed. Water filters are a scam.
Im sure if you were drinking straight out of the filtered resevoir it would be no problem. But obviously you 2 think the water is magically transported to your sink without leeching lead, cadmium, etc into all of your hot water. Its all a scheme, pipes arent made of heavy metals. Not to mention solid molecules, IN WATER? Thats fake news. /s
To top it all off do you think pipes dont rust? Its not like they are made of pure unrustable 100% lead. Some concept applies here with hot water bringing unwanted things.
Im also gonna state here that im an avid tap drinker for the convinience. What you said was so stupid im fighting for the other side. You dont have to stop drinking tap water, no ones gonna rally against you for it but especially in some parts of RI its just fucking terrible. Calling water filters a scam because you cant understand why they are used is just plain goofy.
Yeah who needs to get the lead out of their water, fuckin chumps.
PUR is good. Pitcher type works fine. Same with Brita. They work the same way…there is an actual filter for the larger contaminants and charcoal to absorb some chemicals. Just remember to change the filter periodically (based on how much you use it). You’ll be surprised at how much better your coffee will taste.
Big Berkey.
This is the way.
just bought one, kept trying to figure out the taste of the water before i realized it tastes like nothing and tastes perfect
Same
I'd be more inclined to try a Berkey if they would certify with any of the standard water filter testing bodies.
They claim specific results here:
https://berkeyhome.com/pages/whats-removed
They also explain their reasons for not doing NSF or ANSI tests. Would be good though to see the test reports they refer to.
As you note, they don't share the test reports, and their unwillingness to do NSF/ANSI tests raises a big red flag for me. Many users seem to love them, but I find their lack of standard testing rather sus.
I have a Berkey on my shower head as well. So nice not bathing in chlorine vapor.
Travel berkey over here
Yes, we have one of those too. We rented a house for summer driving vacation last year and used Travel Berkey.
A++.
Nothing. My well water is amazing.
Just a hint of radon gives mine that crisp taste I crave
Super powers.
Love me some well water over here as well
AquaSana, installed under counter with the tap hooked up through a repurposed soap dispenser hole. Super convenient!
+1 Aquasana! And they auto deliver new filters every 6 months so you're always fresh.
I use a Brita Ultramax Dispenser, I'm happy with it.
I have this one:
My grandma got this for Christmas!
Got some type of reverse osmosis thing under my sink.

Faucet mounted Brita and built in fridge with filter
I think the PWA water is pretty good from a health and purity perspective. My only complaint is that they're a bit heavy with residual chlorine. I use a Brita Stream pitcher, which filters chlorine, and not much else, quickly as I pour.
Water softener, twin GAC filters, & sometimes megahome water distiller. I’m on well water in Charlestown.
Well or city water?
City
Well there’s your problem! The fluoride is turning the frogs gay!
