Does anyone have experience walking in the Cranston DMW office without an appointment?

It says the first available appt is January 5th. I’ve put this off for over a year because of how inconvenient this is.

I don’t have a car otherwise I’d go to a different branch. Getting my ID updated to make renting a car easier in the future.

Update: I happened to see one appear at 3:15pm today. One minute it just magically appeared. Still would rather go get it out of the way in the morning, but I’ll take it!!

FYI for transferring out of state (as long as it’s not out of country) you can go to any DMV location. Woonsocket location was a breeze when we did this. We were in and out in under 20min.

If it's any consolation, once you get an appointment you'll have the best DMV experience of your life. I hope they never get rid of the appointments; it's like if you ensure 100 people don't arrive simultaneously you'll get faster, more expedient service!

You’re spot-on with that assessment. I went in and was out very quickly. They have their process down
