That is a 5G antenna on the utility pole. This is more and more common as wireless carriers extend their 5G coverage.

I don’t think they are 5g. I have seen these in Middletown and Portsmouth since before 5g was a thing. However, I do believe they are small cells for 3g or 4g.

Mainstream “5G” in most places is just rebranded LTE. True 5G is ultra-wide band.

Not 5g. Probably 4 or 3g. These microcells are everywhere. They bridge the gap or dead spots towers can't cover.

Yeah, let’s all keep our tinfoil hats in the drawer for now. I’ve seen these in Middletown and Portsmouth since before 5g was a thing.

Have you not been reading? Srs. That's twice now. 4g/ rebranded lte, same manufacturing housing for different models. Also take a while for them to install a network before your get sold your 'brand new never before seen tech' in your consumer hands. But all jokes aside these Are anti-emp shields, protecting our grid from nuclear threat. That's why we don't make transformers anymore for our vast electrical grid, we don't need them

Basic: They’re used by TMobile and Verizon for improved cell phone signal. Tech Explanation: oDAS cellular equipment for LTE. Some have extra 5G antennas (not on the one pictured!)

Not 5g. 5g looks like a fancier version of the cell antennas.

Definitely not a transformer. 5G seems more likely?

It’s 100% a transformer. You can see the spliced wires onto the main line power. 5g/4g would normally be ran through a meter and end up tying into a communication line. I’m a lineman for a power company.

fishythepete t1_j1o3drj wrote

Nope, the lines all go into the conduit on the side of the pole.

Definitely not a transformer. Potentially an autobot.
