From the article:

Meanwhile, a man who did not want to be publicly identified, told NBC 10 that a group of men representing themselves as Proud Boys was approaching people in downtown Providence, along Empire Street, on a rainy Friday night in early November, in an apparent attempt to recruit.

“They were definitely pitching people on their agenda,” the man told NBC 10 News. “I was just kind of surprised at how open and blatant they were about, ‘hey, we're here recruiting for the Proud Boys.’”

As a group, the Proud Boys serve an important role in our society. They provide a safe place for men with micropenises to blame their many shortcomings on those around them instead of confronting the ugly truth that they just suck at life.

Don't let the soft boys ruin clam cakes, the Gansett seawall, and Del's. And pizza. And coffee milk, Newport, Block Island, Pvd bars and food, Wright's Dairy, East Side, P Bruins, and Wickford.

This seems like the perfect time to disarm minority populations with a mag cap ban. I’m sure my Jewish wife can fight off a mob of fascists in hand to hand combat.

Just smile and laugh at them, that’s the truest response and will disarm them immediately.

I work in Fall River and we recently had this Neo Nazi demonstration at the public library during a Drag Queen Reading Hour for kids (seen in the picture of the article).

Not only were they yelling about drag queens, the LGBTQ+ community and trans people, but they also started insulting a person wearing a yarmulke.

All of this while wearing masks, because they’re just so brave.

I didn't get to see their reply to me before it was removed but my best guess is that the news never said the phrase "drag story time" and the troll was simply twisting context/making shit up.

Really glad we can finally be honest about masks again that they're super sketch and allow people to do things anonymously that they wouldn't do if they had to publicly share their identities. I feel so bad for every store clerk who's ever been robbed by someone in a mask. These past two years must have been a concentrated exercise in PTSD management

Nobody wants to be forced to use a gun unfortunately it is a reality for a lot of people. I’d encourage you to look into defensive firearm usage. Also look into how many rounds are used in most defensive uses and come back

Well NBC 10 is owned by an extremest group (hello Sinclair) so they should be in the know regarding this topic.

So it was twisting context. It's called that unofficially by the group putting it on. Imagine a group wanting to show kids that they're humans too deserving of respect even if they live a life different than the kids and their families.

If a man wearing a dress reading Green Eggs and Ham to kids is what you find dangerous (and not the cosplaying gravy seals using firearms to intimidate people) then you're really just telling on yourself.

That's a problematic take. On the one hand you're right queer people need more ways to defend themselves. But the pro/con is far more nuanced than telling us to buy guns.

  • Queer people are far more likely to use a gun against themselves than a Proud Boy. The reality is mental illness hits marganized communities hard and people with mental illness are far more likely to die by suicide if they have easy access to firearms.

  • This isn't the southwest. We don't have Stand Your Ground, we have a duty to retreat before using deadly force. Groups like the Proud Boys know that and are pretty careful with their intimidation tactics to avoid creating situations where the duty to retreat cannot be satisfied. If you use your gun against a Proud Boy you're probably the one who will end up in jail.

  • Many of the places where queer folks need protection the most are places you can't bring guns and for good reason. Gay bars and clubs? It's against the law to carry while drinking, which is what goes on in clubs ans bars.

I remember seeing hammer/nazi skinheads once at a concert in downtown providence mid 90's they weren't hiding their colors nor was anyone scared of them. However these so called " extremist" have their faces covered up , so called tough guys.

Oh, this clown again. So you think since it’s harder to hit an opponent under stress that a smaller magazine is a good idea? The pathetic thing is you think you’re scoring some clever points. Do even think before you write this shit?

Look i moved away 14 years ago and I found out I'm allergic to what and dairy. Shit kills me whenever I eat it. But every time I go back, I get Western or George's in (ugh) burrillville. I also am a serious Leo's in Gansett fan. And I really, really hate to admit it, but I miss Papa Gino's. Lastly, I live for cold pizza strips.

Western Hotel pizza, though, I'm not joking, it's my favorite pizza in the world and I've eaten some DAMN good pizza all over the country and in Europe. Their sausage pizza is extremely special.

Pdmnt t1_j0jgbqd wrote

Al worked at George's for a long time and left to start Western so either one is great. I'm partial to Western but I would drive an hour to either, maybe even longer.

So when they hide their faces, that's fine. But when anyone you don't like does it, they're cowards. Got it.

News flash. If you have to wear a mask to do activist shit in public, you're a coward. Period.

It’s simple, if you don’t like something then change it. There are many different ways, but they all start with you, Whether it’s you who moves or it’s who you vote for, or whatever, but if you don’t think there’s anything good about RI, then do something about it. Don’t come at me, I just pointed out the obvious. And just for you, this didn’t put you at all above me, your half ass insult only put you on the same level.
