I’ve had my teeth butchered by so many dentists over the years. It’s so hard to find a good dentist.

Most oversell their capabilities and try to do everything themselves, when it might be preferable to send you to a specialist in a particular area.

Many older dentists are stuck in their old ways, refusing to learn any new technologies. Ironically, though, the one gold crown I had put in when I was 17 and was told would last a lifetime, is one of the few repairs that has lasted.

I don’t have any particular decay, gum, or hygiene problems. But many of the fillings put in when I was younger have begun to shift and damage tooth structure. Once this happens, the tooth is on borrowed time.

I’m looking for someone really talented, with dedication to their craft. A positive attitude and friendly staff are a plus.

Like most Rhode Islanders, I’m willing to travel within a 1/2 hr radius from the northern part of the state. 😂

Drs Light & Conforti on Waterman St, East Side, Providence.

I believe Dr Light is retired. Dr Conforti is maybe late 30s now? He has an innate aesthetic eye and cares about how things look. Any time I've needed to have a specialist, he hasn't hesitated.

And we had monster dentists when we were kids. I originally was referred to the Light & Conforti practice because of how accommodating they are to the previously-traumatized. The place just radiates a cheery sunny kind vibe.

Could not recommend them more highly, honestly

Dr Burton - Burton family dental on mineral spring ave. She also has an office on s main downtown but parking is better in NP. Her staff is great. She’s done a bunch of replacing 1980s era fillings for me and crowns and her staff is lovely. And I’m a dentist hater by design.

Perio Inc in Warwick is the real deal. Dr. Nager speaks at national conferences and does doctors without borders; meaning, he stays ahead on medical advancements and he has a huge heart. I could not recommend him any stronger. Very, very talented.

Lakeside dental in West Greenwich. Top notch service, Dr. Calitri is a lovely gentleman and great dentist, hygienists are good and they have a therapy dog to sit on your lap if you're not keen on the dentist :)

Dr Picard (Woonsocket) and all of the doctors and hygienists in his office are exceptional. Very personable, and remember personal details you told them 6 months ago. Also a very gentle doctor when getting cavities. Can’t recommend him enough!

I go to perfect smiles in Seekonk. They make crowns in house and this saves me visits. I had the same issue with dentists when I was young and just spend a few years getting all the errors repaired.

Perfect Smiles in Seekonk. I’ve been going there for a few years now. Just had two fillings done yesterday. No pain and in and out within 25 minutes. Didn’t even need Novocain.

I like everyone at Pratt Family Dentistry in East Greenwich. They're friendly and gentle and do good work, but also accept that most patients don't care about teeth nearly as much as they do, and will work with you to find good solutions within what you're willing to do and pay.

A little pricey and out of network for most insurance, they deal with all that billing complexity though and you just pay the difference, which normally isn't too bad.

Dr. Patrick McGuirk in Greenville. I actually chose this office a few years ago based on someone’s response to a similar post. Small practice, one dentist. New tech, very affordable. I’ve got dental issues and I’ve seen plenty of dentists and had awful experiences. If I had had a dentist like him my whole life, maybe I wouldn’t be in the boat I’m in now. Good luck!!!
