I posted yesterday about my lost dog Kali. We spotted her last night and today within a few miles from our house she escaped but she ran away. We need professional help - does anyone know of a pet trapper to help us physically capture her and bring her home safe? She’s so skittish and won’t approach us. Please help, thank you!

There's a group called Packleader PetTrackers. They have a Facebook page and a website that you should be able to find pretty easily.

I can't say enough about this group. Found my girlfriend's dog in 10 minutes. So fast they didn't even change her. Incredible service

You need a pet detective.

You need to put a safety cage / Have a Heart trap out where the dog was last seen (get homeowner's permission, if necessary). Bait it with a fresh rotisserie chicken (with bones removed). Put a cellular trail cam aimed right at it, so you can monitor the trap. Good luck.

Do you have a local ACO that can help with these things? They probably have access to the trap and trail cam, you're on your own for the delicious chicken, though.

Ha ha thank you for the tip. Just bought a chicken and we are working with someone from Mass pets who is coming tomorrow with a trap to set. I’m praying hard.

I’ve seen giant coyote sized have-a-heart traps at tractor supply, they are huge, would definitely fit a dog. It might be worth grabbing a couple of those too, they were expensive but it’s worth it to get your dog back and you can probably sell them after, the more traps that are out there the better your odds are

Awesome! It's a good method with a high success rate in cases where you've had a recent sighting of the lost dog.

I'm sending positive thoughts.

I don’t know anything about these services, I just did a quick google, but there is a pet tracking company based in RI. Their website is https://www.packleaderpettrackers.com/

There is also a nation wide nonprofit that helps people find their lost pets, their website is https://dogsfindingdogs.com/

I hope this helps, or at least points you in the right direction, good luck.

Good instructions and references https://potterleague.org/resources/lost-and-found/

Put out a bowl of food at your home and where Kali ran away from. Also put out something that smells of you - sweatshirt or something.

There are additional resources in that link. Good luck — I know it’s terrifying.

Check out missing dogs Massachusetts. They are volunteer based and have volunteers in RI too. They have a missing dog blue print to help get you started. They helped recover my moms formerly feral dog who was extremely skiddish. They have a huge following on facebook.

Thank you so much! She is formally feral and extremely skittish. We actually have someone from their organization coming out tonight to help! Fingers crossed!

Do you have a garage or shed? Get a rotisserie chicken and use pieces to lead her into the enclosed area. It has to be that type of chicken. No one is sure why it works (you can google it), but I've retrieved 2 really hard to catch dogs that way. Good luck it's maddening when they don't listen.
