I went to Safelite in New Bedford, and my insurance (GEICO) covered it. All I had to pay was the deductible on my plan which was $50. I would definitely look into what your insurance covers

Doesn’t that usually spike your premium though?

My dad had a dented bumper and was told if he filed through insurance, his premium would go up regardless of whether there was another party involved. Same with the windshield on our other car.

I had the windshield repaired by Safelite on my 2017 Wrangler back in 2018 through insurance, it was dime size puck mark, and when I went to change insurance companies last year it was listed as a claim and raised my premium everywhere I was quoted. Had I known that I would have just paid out of pocket for it.

I thought so.

My parents have Amica and they told us it would be cheaper in the long run to pay out of pocket for a replacement than to file a claim since it’ll be on their records and will just cost more every year for a reason they couldn’t even control.

Nope didn’t change my premium at all. GEICO has a windshield glass program so I did the claim through them first. If they were able to fix the crack it would have been free but it was too big so I needed a whole new windshield, and I only paid the $50 deductible
