It sounded like a commercial jet was flying at a low altitude to the south of me. It was a rolling/rumbling sound that just seemed to remain stationary. I’ve lived in Warren, East Providence and Warwick so I’ve lived in the flight path to TF green. Reminded me of when I plane is just becoming audible because it has lowered, but it was more of a droning rumble that didn’t seemed to be moving at all. I went outside and couldn’t see anything.

Anyone else down in this neck of the woods here it? I’ve never heard anything like it. It was ominous.

Oh that's probably just Hawkins national laboratory. No big deal, they are working on fences or gates or something like that.

To be fair, the entire bloody state is “in the TF Green flight path.” 😁

True, but I haven’t heard jets in over a year since I moved here. It’s weird hearing them again. 😂

I heard a similar noise in West Warwick around 4:30 or 5. It was almost like a car with extreme bass but it wasn't playing a beat, just a low buzz/rumble that grew incredibly loud then faded back out over maybe 2 or 3 minutes. Definitely sounded ominous.

So you know what jets typically sound like coming and going from the airport. This wasn’t the typical behavior. It just kept going and going like the jets were stationary. It was odd.

Also heard this, no idea what it was though. Assumed it was a plane.

Could it have been military jets/planes on maneuvers?

Maybe. I know 56th troop command and the 143rd INF jump into Big River on a regular basis.

There are C-130s that come out of Quonset and regularly fly over our house about 10 minutes from Ashaway. They are LOUD and very low to the ground. It's possible they took a slightly different flight path than usual and just happened to end up in your neck of the wood.

I’ve heard these guys before. First time I heard them I was totally freaked out. This sounded like it could have been faster/smaller military plans

Could have been a plane coming into Westerly? I live close to the airport and hear different planes- jets, pipers, etc.

I thought the same, but the jets flying into Westerly usually don’t sound like what I heard last night. Maybe it was a commercial jet that didn’t have clearance to land at TF so it was just sort of killing a little time?

It’s definitely possible. I heard a loud commercial jet last week, I don’t normally hear that in the winter.

Maybe they’re all being redirected for some reason? It’s weird. I’ve lived down here for a year after being in close proximity to TF green most of my life. Hearing it down here is odd. I never would have given it any thought otherwise. It’s been nice living further away from that noise

There was quite a bit of helicopter action in southern RI last night, but not sure they would’ve made it to Ashaway.

We heard it in Wakefield. My girlfriend came into the room asking what the hell it was. Must have been about 8pm. Recently we've had helicopters etc flying over and figured they were for the preserve?

Last weekend was drill weekend for RING, or at least a lot of them. They’ve got a pretty big presence in the southern part of the state, so a good chance it was something to do with them.

I swear I just heard something like this in Providence a few minutes ago. Got on the sub to see if anyone else heard something weird. Sound volume went in and out while it seemed to stay in one place for 5-10 minutes. Very weird.
