After having to wait two months for a service appointment at Flood Ford, they have had my truck for two days and haven't even looked at it yet. I had to call them for an update, and they're "hoping" to be able to look at it this week. Maybe I am missing the point of having an appointment, but I would have thought they would take availability into account when giving them out...

Anyway, how is service at Tasca Ford in Cranston? I'll happily drive the truck up there if they're better, but if they're just as bad then I guess I'll just resign myself to worse service than I'm used to.

I laughed when I saw your post..sorry.. I had a gas leak and was asked to wait 2 months for service at Tasca Ford.

This was during the pandemic, but still. I was really worried my car would blow up, and instead found a local mechanic who could help.

Everytime I needed an oil change or something it was always really expensive and or scheduled out far. I no longer own that car.

I’ve been taking my Mazda to Tasca in Cranston. I bought it there. So far just maintenance and am in an out in a few hours. I guess they are okay, the car is running no problem (it is new), they are expensive.

I plan to go to local mechanic after warranty ends. At the end of the day I don’t trust these guys enough.

We are having our Volvo repaired at Tasca’s body shop. It has been, by far, the worst customer service experience of my life. Not sure if that would translate to your situation.

Knowing a lot of mechanics in the state, there is a lot of short staffed auto shops and they are all on crazy long waits.

My fleet vehicle is serviced at either location and they all suck. Blown bearing and can’t get me in till February….. so I’m not working till February I guess.

Highly don't recommend Tasca. Even a simple oil change can take 3 hours!

For sure, which is why I understand the 2 month wait for an appointment. It's not being able to even look at my car until 3+ days after the appointment that gets me (especially with no proactive communication about it).

This is my experience at Tasca Seekonk as well. Seems absurd when you have an appointment.

They also rotated the tires on my van but didn’t check air pressure. Since it’s a cargo van, PSI is 52 in front and 80 in back. They had it swapped. Not good.

I loved the experience of buying a car from them but the service department does absolutely nothing. I went to get my tires rotated and literally nothing was fixed.

lol Tasca sucks. They sold me a car with an “aftermarket exhaust”. I look underneath it and the flex pipe snapped so there was just.. no exhaust.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that had issues at Tasca in Cranston. Everything was longer than it should be. Their appointment system wasn't accurate and made it seem like it was our problem. One time I had it in for a warranty transmission repair and they broke the starter. Sure they replaced it for free but still.

The worsye part was when I gave them my car to their collision shop. A month a half of battling to get them to finish it. I swore them off and added them to the never again list and bought a different vehicle from somewhere else.

Just what I outlined in the OP really.

Long wait for an appointment, then they don't even look at the car for days after the appointment. Poor communication, not calling back when they said they would. Beyond that, there are some widely known issues with the car (Ford Maverick) that they seemed completely oblivious to, even when there have been TSBs and the other acronym I can't remember for an issue Ford has acknowledged and/or published a fix for.

So all in all, they haven't really done anything bad, they just haven't done the good things if that makes sense.

Tasca is the worst. By far. They had my car for six weeks because it was making a loud noise, told me I couldn’t have it back because the transmission was taken apart. Finally got it back, same noise. Took it to Flood, explained my Tasca fiasco, the guy called me an hour later to say my transmission had never even been touched.

Sorry. I didn’t mean to be redundant.

That’s frustrating. Even at Mazda when we find the recalls or TSBs they work with us after reading what we have and consulting their manufacturer. I had a windshield warp in my CX-30 and they didn’t even have an official TSB, but after their service department taking pictures and explaining it Mazda approved everything.

Again, sorry for your frustration.

Same situation here with Food a couple months back. Had it for days and didn’t look at it. They never found the source of the noise I took it in for and I honestly don’t think they tried.

I was going to Tasca for my Volvo for a while. The wait for an appointment for an appointment have been over 2 months, so I go somewhere else now.

Chalk me up as another Tasca hater. Hell, I live 5 minutes from Tasca Mazda and I still bought my last two cars from Flood. I was doing maintenance there in Wakefield for awhile too but post-covid I just go to a local shop now.

I can’t speak to general maintenance etc, but I know they have more speciality mechanics or mechanics trained in high performance ford vehicles. Did a decent job with a gt 500 I had.

I am not sure if you are required to get your car serviced by Ford or not? If not, the last couple of years my family has started going to the mechanics shop on Park Ave - the one right in front of Cranston High School East. They are fast/all mechanics highly certified and they generally repair our cars under their estimate. We had brakes replaced, leak repaired, and intensive diagnostics done on our Corolla this month and they managed to do all and get parts ordered and placed in less than two weeks. Cannot recommend them enough, they really know their shit. We have used them for our Subaru, Suzuki, Corolla, and Sonata in the past.

I am feeling more positive toward them today, actually. After another call back, they're getting a loaner truck for me for as long as they take. That seems more fair...I really just need a truck, not necessarily my truck.

Both. Took my Ranger to Cranston because I was getting a free sandwich with my oil change, when Quicklane took hours for an oil change I switched to Seekonk Quicklane (if I’m going to wait, at least I’ll be closer to home)

Bought my first Escape from Flood in EG and took it to the QL across the way and had no issues (got any other work at Tasca in Seekonk, because Flood service department is horrendous). Got my second Escape from Flood in Gansett, took it to EG for oil changes then decided to switch over to Tasca for convenience.

I will never buy a Ford again. Happy with my Toyota and the service I receive at Bristol Toyota

Yeah I'm definitely feeling the brand difference after being spoiled by Speedcraft Acura, those guys were fantastic.

What are the chances that Honda comes out with a small electrified pickup, and also brands it as an Acura? That would be ideal for me lol

My experience … the shortage of mechanics and technicians is a challenge. And of course those technicians and mechanics also are susceptible to COVID-Flu-RSV viral illnesses. Rhode Islander holds an older population and Millennials-GenZ are not seeking skilled trades. Yeah it’s a problem.

Maybe I'm an outlier but I just brought my Mazda to Tasca in Cranston. It was for 75K mile service - oil change, replace air filter and spark plugs, rotate tires. I was able to get an appointment about a week out and the wait while I was there was about 90 minutes.

But, if you need specialty work? Maybe that's what takes way longer.
