Some people don't even have that choice, and usually those countries are the most fucked.

Not 4 years everywhere. Not everyone has the choice everywhere and also, not every elected official is trying to fuck up their country.

As an Aussie, the current government, whilst still crap, is a lot lot better than the previous one for example and they honestly seem to want to make positive changes for the majority of people. Unlike the previous lot who wanted to empower more rich people, downgrade public health systems, help churches and didn't believe in climate issues.

It's easy to become cynical about politics, especially in times of turmoil and uncertainty. But I firmly believe that the vast majority of politicians truly want to help improve the lives of their constituents. It may not always seem like it, and there will always be bad actors in any system, but I have seen firsthand the dedication and selflessness of many public servants. It's important to remember that change doesn't happen overnight, and progress is often slow and incremental. But it's worth fighting for, and we must never give up hope that our leaders can rise to the challenges we face as a nation.

Depends on the country. Canada's elections are more sporadic and can happen at random intervals, which I suspect is one of the reasons a lot of people don't vote

Choosing the lesser of the two fuck-ups is how it’s done here.

What an excellent system. /s
