Yeah, the typical school desk, at least in the US, consists of a chair that has a writing surface that stretches from the back of the right side to the front so you can rest your right arm while you write your notes. If you're left handed though you are kinda screwed.

Yeah but that kinda cancels out since we had one long bench for two students at once with extra space on either side for arm rest lol
