We aren't taught how to blink either, or how to make our heart beat, or digest food.

All happen based on the body and not thoughts.

Well you can control those blinking, you can’t control your heart beat or digestive tract

Having control is not the same as needing to learn how to do it to begin with.

Also you can't "not blink" your body wont let you. Eventually you will blink. Just like breathing. You can try to hold your breath but eventually your body makes you breathe.

You actually learn better breathing technique with singing, wind instruments and theatre. It's also a big part of meditation and stuff. All of these awhile you have already learned the basics tho.

I assume you are referring to stomach breathing?

I recall reading that when we are born we breath with our stomach, but at some point start breathing with our chest instead and have to re-learn using the stomach if we want to be able to manipulate our voice and airflow with more control and range.

I recently discovered that my nose is bent on the inside which makes it harder to breathe through it. It makes me more prompt to breath through my mouth which is bad for mouth health. So yeah I've been breathing wrong...

Deviated septum huh? Had mine done 2.5 years ago and it makes all the difference. Get in touch with an ENT doctor

Not just mouth health, but overall health and face composition.

I still think I'm swallowing food wrong because when I eat small things like rice, some always ends up in my nasal cavity. The biggest thing that ended up in there was an Ibuprofen gel capsule. Couldn't feel the side of my face for a couple hours.

Actually, some of us are! Singing lessons include a study of how you breathe. A lot of us do it wrong.

not me realizing that when you’re doing a strenuous activity, you have to consciously breathe heavier when I was like 15. I thought it would just happen when necessary? Few times I even passed out due to lack of oxygen.

And I don't mean it in a "we learn from instinct", as a lot of comments say there are better ways of breathing to have better performance in sports or for singing or not to get tired as easily. Just had this little thought and found it interesting. I wonder how many people don't even use their noses for breathing.
