I don't think my dogs wondered about this, lol, but I did have a boxer that would always get lost in thought.

Lost in thought, or trying to find first gear?

I have a black lab who, I swear, has no one behind the wheel sometimes.

I honestly don't think dogs have the mental capacity to wonder such a question. Even wondering in general takes a bit of mental skill. Working out thoughts, thinking of answers.

I took my dog into a walk in freezer a long time ago (gas store had a walk in beer selection) my dog took no more of it at all. I think their thought process would be something along the lines of, "OMG, I smell food! Weird, it got a bit cold... I smell food over there!!"

Yeah what they need to know is "this place is too cold/hot, we need to get out of here". Can't think where dogs would need to know anything more. Most people don't need to know more either. I have no idea how refrigerators, plumbing or central heating work precisely but I can live my life mostly just normally. dogs just learn that appliances that look a certain way and are in a certain place are cold and store food.

that assumes they're smart enough to wonder and too stupid to understand.

i reckon they're probably too stupid to wonder and smart enough to understand, though.

My dog probably thinks I'm better at making the sun shine than my husband. He does early morning walks, I do afternoon walks with doggo.

I was playing Bloons Tower Defense the other day with my cat on my lap staring at the screen and all I could think is, "Wow, I couldn't imagine how confusing this must be for you."

I think my dog only wonders why I keep her canned food in a box I won’t let her get into. She never seems to notice the cold, just all the food.
