Interesting. I think there's a fine line, though, between self-depricating jokes for the sake of comedy vs. self-deprecating jokes as a way to respond to compliments. Pure comedy is usually sincere, avoiding a compliment often isn't.

Also Life Pro tip here: Dont do self-depreciating jokes. Or at least not often. Making fun of yourself consistently will just make you feel worse and worse the more you do it. You might think you're being honest or funny, but you're not; you're just ruining your own self-esteem over time, even if you dont realize it.
