Satire is a very good outlet for anger and jealousy, it's in the interests of elites to allow it and positively encourage it.

Yeah, because the vast majority of the people paying to see the movies made by the rich people are poor and hate rich people.

Ironic isn't it?

The world is just one big scam.

Safer and more profitable that way for the rich funding the movie than dealing with disgruntled serfs with torches and pitchforks at their doors.

Bingo!

Also why gamble with a fresh new idea when I can just remake or adapt an existing work and take advantage of a fan base that already exists?

We've done this to ourselves... it's a shame really, we have so much power but don't know it... all we gotta do is not pay for it lol

There's some truth to that. But most movies don't depict people as being worthy of hate purely for being rich. They depict the hateworthy rich as people who got their money through disreputable means or who use their wealth to abuse others.

And I think that's in line with the attitudes of the general public. Plenty of people despise rich investment bankers or insurance company executives but most of those same people don't hate wealthy surgeons or engineers. When people complain about the high cost of medication no one gets mad that the research scientists are paid well. But they hate big pharma CEOs.

If the antagonist is a caricature evil person (Eg Scrooge) it makes regular rich people seem nice.

So as long as the billionaires aren’t trying to tear down the beloved neighborhood thing to build condos, they’re ok
