Well, we're talking wages, so not everyday is a work day. Therefore if you figure most work 250 days a year that is about 400.00 a day.

I added that in the extra bit. Not the actual shower thought but wanted to account for the way we work.

Yeah , oops , just noticed that. It feels far far away

Even $400 Isn’t that much an the big picture… that being said, through labor I’ve only done that a day, dozen or so times in my life.

It’s super wild that there are people that charge far more then that an hour.

If you work 50 weeks a year, 5 days/week, and 8 hours a day, you need to earn $50/hour an $400/day to make $100 000/year. Also under this line of thinking, every 25 cents earned per hour nets you $500/year and every dollar earns you $2000/year. I always found this a quick way to figure out yearly pay from hourly, and vice versa

I love it. You did the math.

I find it amazing how it all adds up but we tend to thing in years not hours or days.

I figured this out when I was a tween. Another one is we find time goes faster as we age (for most), that’s because a year when you’ve lived ten years, a year is 10% of your life experience (in years). And when you’ve lived 20 years, a year seems faster because a year is now only 5% of your life experience, and so on, and so on. Math can be fun sometimes

I’m feeling like we are kindred spirits because that’s how I’ve explained the years passing faster every year for a while now!

One of those old Greeks figured it out first, but I can never remember the name. That said, it’s still your/my theorem in a way, cause we figured it out independently

It’s bittersweet figuring things out independently, figuring it out a bit to late to make money lol.

Alexander Graham Bell and Antonio Meucci basically invented the telephone basically simultaneously, and there are other examples. Sometimes it’s all about filing the paperwork first

I generally only think of it in terms of hours and days when it is overtime pay.

This is based on 2080 hours of work and 2 weeks vacation. Easier to get to your numbers that way.

togocann49 t1_j270pyx wrote

I based it on 50 work weeks, and 2 weeks off.

At my peak, I was touching $600k a year. Of that, only $170k was profit. $100k seems attainable when you don’t consider the costs involved in profiting that.

When you have a salary, they’re paying you to get a job done. It mostly doesn’t matter how or when you do the job, as long as you get it done. You still get the money.
