Not really, in avatar they move the elements without exerting force on them. It isn’t basic air bending as splashing water isn’t basic water bending, throwing rocks isn’t earth bending and lighting a fire isn’t fire bending.

I don’t see why not. Skilled earth benders can lava bend by basically vibrating the earth molecules so fast to generate high temperatures turning it into lava. I suppose air benders can vibrate air molecules the same way.
