If I just sit on the bench in from of our library, people driving by heckle and throw shit at me. The homeless hang out there during the day so it’s socially acceptable to harass anyone who uses the bench, anytime, for any reason. So yeah.

A few missing pay checks and anyone could be out here. Anyone at all.

It's not ever socially acceptable to harass anyone at least in developed countries with people who are brought up right.

Same goes for using the restroom in the restroom rather than on the street or in the park

This is a friendly reminder to read our rules.

Remember, /r/Showerthoughts is for showerthoughts, not "thoughts had in the shower!"

Some places still have laws against sleeping anywhere in public.

Sleeping itself isn't what's frowned upon... it's typically the lack of proper hygiene or care enough to clean up after oneself that's frowned upon

Normal vs frowned upon are 2 different things. I found it more normal to see people sleeping in parks and on the street as I grew up in NYC vs the airports as the former was a daily thing and the latter was rare.

There’s no way you “rarely” have seen people sleeping in the airport unless you fly first class all the time.

Either way, I think it’s pretty clear that normal and frowned upon are two different things.

How often are you at the airport? Also I choose morning flights 6 AM, 7 AM etc. Airport is usually emptier and people have woken up.

Yeah it's crazy with all these double standards. Do you ever notice how it's considered normal to take your dishes to the sink after eating in a home but it's considered weird to do that a restaurant? So strange.
