Man, I remember my time in jail. Horrible. They would try and educate you, you'd be sent home after 3pm, you'd also get sent home for all the holidays and even get two months off cuz the wardens didn't want to work during summer time. Also if you got sick, you could potentially skip jail time.

Yup, it really was the jailiest of jails.

That's true, but it doesn't mean you can't make lifelong friends at school! Just keep your eyes open and don't be afraid to take a chance on someone who could turn out to be an amazing friend.

I don't think mandatory education is like a prison any more than any other obligation to society. Everyone hates jury duty but nobody says it's prison, it's the cost of living in a society where justice is not decided entirely by people with the resources to become judges.

Public education might be unpleasant at times but it's the cost of living in an educated society. Which is so much better than dying of cholera, and that's what we would be doing without public education.

You know why we don't? Public education let normal people become doctors and scientists and engineers so we could treat disease, develop new medicine, and develop clean running water infrastructure.

This is how I feel. I would become friends with like 4% of my classmates if I wasn't required to spend time with them.
