Combination of a couple of reasons - my partner has more job opportunities in his field there + we're currently living in NYC and Stamford is seeming to be cheaper + it's still not a terrible commute for me to NYC.

So yeah, youd probably want to be in walking distance of the train, which means either harbor point or north up to like bedford street.

Thats your sweet spot for exploring.

My wife and i did the same thing pre covid, did lunch in harbor point and dinner at brickhouse. It was a fun couple days.

They have these weird electronic dart boards at a lot of bars

I commute to NYC everyday (😅🤡) and live in Harbor Point. Lmk if you have any specific questions! I love it here

How do you find the commute? Where in the city do you commute to and how long does it normally take?

My fiancé drops me off at the train (2 min drive, but if not it’s a ~10 min walk) and then a ~55 min train ride and my office is right by GCT so it’s just steps until I’m in the lobby. 3-4 days a week would be ideal, but 5 feels taxing IMO. Luckily I roll out of the office around 4 everyday and finish on the ride home but at the end of the day, it is 2 hours a day spent commuting, so I try to use the time to do errands or wedding plan so I can just chill when I get home. Still wouldn’t move back to NYC over it!

I also commute to FiDi and I think the other user's schedule is very optimistic. It takes me about 1h45m. 10m to the train station by bus from Waterside, 1h train ride (people will reference the 50 minute train which is the shortest one but in the morning the trains are 55-65m), 15m subway to Fulton St., 5-10 walk to the office. And keep in mind you'll need a few minutes buffer/waiting in between every part of the trip. It takes a good 5 minutes just to get from the Metro North track to the subway track at Grand Central.

My SO walks from harbor point to the train (10 minutes), train is about 50 minutes, and then takes the subway down to fidi (10 minutes), then walks a bit to his office. Door to door, takes him about 1.5 hours max, but usually closer to 1.25.
