Is there a farmers market in Stamford downtown or nearby areas? Mainly looking for fresh vegetables. I have been trying Grade-A so far.

I think many of the farmer's markets are out of season right now but there is a spot called Mike's Organic downtown that also does local delivery which partners with local farms for produce, meat and dairy.

Farmer's markets around here typically carry produce grown within a certain range of the market. There is currently nothing in season in terms of fresh vegetables unless they're being grown in greenhouses or something. There is a downtown farmer's market, another one on High Ridge Road south CT-15, and one at the Stamford Nature Center. If they are open at all, then they won't have produce for a bit.

This doesn’t help for right now, but for future reference - there is a farmer’s market in New Canaan that opens 4/23 and one in Katonah (at John Jay Homestead) that also opens in the spring. If you want to go a bit farther, there’s also a decent one in Bethel.

Yes. Stamford has a small one in Veterans Park and there are a few others scattered around but it's out of season. There are many in the region year round the best of breed is TaSH in Tarrytown. http://tashfarmersmarket.org/ or for local to Stamford hit Sophia Market on Hope Street in Springdale.

Fairgate farm on Stillwater ave in Stamford is the best kept secret. It’s closed now but will open in the spring. You can go there and help grow vegetables and they will let you have free vegetables for helping. They also have specials from all the local farmers near by http://fairgatefarm.com
