this is a strange situation so idk what the best process for this would be: I've been living in my house downtown for almost 6+ years and recently (year and a half) an old couple has been randomly leaving food directly outside my house for the local stray cats. We've left a sign and directly asked them not to and they say they don't speak english. :\ I don't want to involve the police cus I doubt they'll do anything anyway so what's the next best option to stop them? If the police is the way what's best to about that?

Call a cat rescue like pitter patter.

If someone feeds a cat, its their responsibility to get them fixed, and the rescue can help. Feeding stray cats is cool, but you want to make sure they are fixed or you get a cat colony.

You could call animal control for the cats, maybe they can at least spay / neuter them or get them adopted out if they’re friendly?

Feel like it's good to mention that the problem isn't the cats, we love them. Most of them are friendly or don't even want to look at me, and I think all of them are TNR. The biggest problem is the food, I have a dog, most people in the neighborhood walk their dogs past my house, dogs + cat food = doggy stomach problems. ☹️

You could ask them what language they speak and use Google Translate

I'm usually either at work when they do it or miss them by a literal minute but if I do ever run into them I'll def try that
