I went there for Taco Tuesday last week and was surprised to find that they were closed. Today I looked them up and Google says they are permanently closed. Anyone know what happened? I didn't go there all the time but they seemed to be doing well enough. I'm just surprised.

Something about not agreeing on the terms of the lease. There is a story with limited info in the Stamford advocate

Didn't they close a restaurant and replace it with a different concept a couple months ago, which also closed? Why would you change concepts if you were doing well? Why would you open a new concept if the lease terms were so bad?

My guess is they used their $225k PPP loan to expand by opening a second restaurant concept, which failed. They tried to change that second restaurant concept earlier this year, but by then it was too little too late - the free money was gone.

Maybe the building was owned by BLT? Wouldn’t surprise me if those scumbags hiked the rent an outrageous amount

No, they are owned by another company. BLT sold all the Y&T buildings around 2018.

They also sold all their equipment for both spots, so they’re probably not reopening

that whole plaza basically died... there used to be apartments near there that sunk into the ground because they were not built on bedrock... there was a le pain quotiden that closed down, fairway market closed down, there used to be a good bbq place there that closed down.

basically that area went downhill I think

Are you talking about the Lofts? I think that's the place I heard kicked all their tenants out for some issue with the building. But yeah it's sad, that area was where I first lived when I moved here. Having a grocery store, and all those shops and restaurants are what made me choose it. It was nice while it lasted. Hopefully something can be done to bring businesses back. I winder if those apartments are losing tenants now that there is less going on around there.

The food was pretty good and there were always lots of people in there, but they had zero ability to get takeout orders correct. We stopped ordering from there after the fifth time in a row of getting orders with missing or incorrect items.

building's landlord, 121 Towne. A representative for 121 Towne declined
to comment when reached.

I mean that quote is vague. It could be anything from we wanted to be open later to 'we couldn't afford rent".

Hard to imagine it's anything but rent related.

I only went once it was ok, but I also heard it was not well run and had issues like Fighting/tough guys

Relative to the rest of Stamford restaurants they were fine. Seemed like the only place around that was ever doing anything to bring people in the door.

Sounds about right and on par with what I’ve heard. Wasn’t it more harbor point/south end and not downtown though?

John’s wife looks so damn familiar and it irks the hell out of me because I can’t put my finger on why. Was she an actress? Did we go to high school together? WHY! Even my sister said she agreed that she looked eerily familiar. Bugs the hell out of me.

His (new) wife and her twin worked for his (John N’s) Italian restaurant franchise. He cheated on his wife with said employee, and then married her. His (new) wife and her twin stayed with that same company for a few years, I imagine until they went bankrupt.

I think it is the same owners who have “Cugine’s” - a speakeasy style ny pasta restaurant restaurant concept. They are on indtagram but i font yhink it had a formal website.
