Hi neighbors! I just moved here from Pennsylvania and I’m looking for a new dentist that’s taking new patients. I’m kinda picky about dentists and prefer someone who is gentle - I have sensitive ass teeth 😅 TIA

I love Dr Patel at the Stamford dental spa! The staff are so nice and it’s just a very chill, relaxing atmosphere.

I saw Dr. Patel on my list of providers near me who take my insurance! Thank you for the suggestion ☺️

I second this. Dr Patel is the way to go 100%

It’s really nice, the chairs have a massage option and they will give you a little hand massage if you want :)

Dr. LoPresti right downtown. He's a second-generation dentist. There are two LoPrestis Jon and Matt. You want Matt. He started it and he's the best.

Also I don't think he'll ever admit it but I think there's a requirement for his staff to be phenomenally attractive. They're all very good at their job too.

Do not see Jon!! I loved Matt and the office and saw Jon once (without them telling me) and have never gone back.

Thank you for looking out, noted!

This is wild. The same thing happened to me with Jon. I’m still pissed. Matt is awesome, though

Hahaha awesome recommendation 😁 Doesn’t hurt to have something pretty to look at while listening to high pitched drills… thank you!!!

Not Dr. Stein on Hope st. He’s a butcher

4

yelllaH OP t1_j44j7l0 wrote

That sounds terrifying, thanks for the heads up 😂

3

Shortchange96 t1_j44jf6m wrote

You’re welcome. I haven’t gone to him personally, but my brother has. He had a bunch of work done and it was shoddy. He went to another local dentist to get it fixed and the new dentist said, “let me guess, Dr. Stein?”

3

yelllaH OP t1_j44jof2 wrote

No way… he’s really that bad that people recognize his shitty work?! This is why I take local recommendations

2

Shortchange96 t1_j44jwgq wrote

Apparently. In another twist of fate that he has no control over, his hygienist went off the rails a few years ago and hid in the back seat of her ex boyfriends new girlfriends car and stabbed her when she got in the car

2

yelllaH OP t1_j44kagh wrote

So the whole butcher thing apparently runs in the office… Got it. Staying as far away as possible from Dr. Stein on No-Hope Street 🤝

2

Shortchange96 t1_j44kim3 wrote

Hope st isn’t all bad. Right across the street is Vinny’s Backyard where you can get some great wings and a beer after you’ve been butchered. Might be worth it

3

yelllaH OP t1_j44okao wrote

Not a bad gig, and I’ve never heard of Vinny’s Backyard? I gotta do my research but I’ve been too busy moving in lol

1

Shortchange96 t1_j44pqf3 wrote

Vinny’s Backyard is a dive bar that has arguably the best wings in town and they have good cracker crust pizza too. My family and I actually sampled wings from about 6 restaurants a few weeks back trying to see who had the best. Vinny’s and Murphy’s town house were the winners (according to us anyway)

seconding NOT DR. STEIN. dudes been there forever...we went twice and never again.

Seconded. Plus his hygienists have been super rude before. One said “ew” when looking at my teeth (in his defense, they prob weren’t great since I was a kid and didn’t have a great upbringing, but still hurt). I also have kept refusing braces due to finances, but while most have let it go after a minute or two, one of the hygienists kept pressing even after I explained that we couldn’t afford it, which as a 14 year old just made me feel worse. Finally, last time I showed up (I’m in my 20’s now), my cleaning lasted 15 minutes and they didn’t bother making me a new appointment at all. Immediately started looking for someone new and now pay fully out of pocket just to avoid them.

Looks like you've got a lot of recs, but I will add that Dr. Cimato at Harbor Point Dental is great as well!

Good to know as that’s within walking distance of me! Cool looking office from the looks of Yelp reviews, too. Thanks so much 😁

If you’re open to driving to Norwalk (exit 16 off 95) Dr. Stebbins is legit the best dentist ever!

Totally willing to travel, thank you so much!

I really like Dr. Roth at Dental Care of Stamford, on summer street. Kirsti is my favorite hygienist there, they are both kind and gentle but thorough. The office does wisdom tooth extractions as well, I believe.

Huge fan of Dr. Kim at AAA Dental. Plus their front desk staff is fantastic.

3

fu_aurora t1_j4mmmvi wrote

Came here to say this! Nidia at the front desk is a literal angel. I love how they take the time to describe the recommended procedures, how much it would cost, and they are excellent at communicating with my insurance company to iron out all the necessary details. Dr. Kim may be the most chill dentist I've ever had. Can't recommend this office enough.

Funny timing, I just went to my new dentist today for the first time since moving here. I went to Dr. David Rosch.

I really liked the office and him. I usually hate the dentist but he was so nice and patient with answering all of my questions. I hated my last dentist and I left very happy today.

Ahh I’m so glad you found a dentist you like! Thanks so much for the recommendation, super helpful 😁

Dr. Chopra (Norwalk Dental Care) is truly amazing. I had a terrible couple of experiences with a dentist on Long Island and she rescued my mouth. Fixed a chipped bottom front tooth, identified a poorly fixed cavity in another tooth and performed a root canal to save it. Her work is flawless. Dental hygienists are gentle, kind, and do great work and any pain is addressed promptly and respectfully. I actually love my dentist!

yelllaH OP t1_j44li2g wrote

What a fabulous review, she sounds amazing! I will look into her now. Appreciate the help

My heart goes out to you re: sensitive af teeth. For some reason my mouth takes a while to get numb and I need 2 doses of whatever they administer with the needle. They never make me feel bad, and are actually really patient and understanding about it. They just check in and if I'm not numb enough, they give me more and then we hang out and chit chat until I start slurring my words and then we get to work, LOL.

I used to love going to the dentist (weirdo alert) but the dentist I went to on LI the year I lived there used the most intense cleaning methods unnecessarily (I didn't have gingivitis or periodontitis but he claimed I needed my teeth descaled over the course of 2 months as well as several fillings and caused bruising and bleeding) and didn't employ a hygienist, he did the cleanings and fillings alone. Anyway, one filling was crappy and caused further decay and the tooth ended up cracked, I could see the back of it moving when flossing. I had just moved to Norwalk by the time I realized what had happened (and the pain was getting worse) and had received a mailing from Dr. Chopra's office and thought I'd give them a try. I moved to a nearby state last year and still came back to Dr. Chopra every 6 months anyway because I feel like I can't trust anyone else now and I'm so thankful for her.

yelllaH OP t1_j44phlc wrote

That is just terrible, he was doing way more harm than good to your teeth… that makes me cringe just reading about your LI dental experience. I just read a ton of reviews for Dr Chopra’s office and turns out they take my insurance and have an average of 4.9 star reviews (that’s the best one I’ve seen so far!)

I’m thankful for your review as I take my dentist visits very seriously. I’m so nervous to switch as I’ve been going to the same dental office since I was a kid so maybe that’s my weirdo alert? Lol I hope you have a wonderful night and again, thanks for the thorough recommendation!

‼️ Bonus points if you have any oral surgeon recommendations for wisdom teeth extraction in Stamford/surrounding areas!

Forgot to mention on my OG post that I need all 4 taken out like yesterday 😅
